Below are some links we've found useful in locating other domain names and helping us to appraise ours. If you didn't find what you're looking for here, at Net Domain Properties - or if you did, but want to make sure you're going to offer the right price, check out these other resources we found useful.
Great Domains
While not the 'granddaddy' of all domain name brokers, Graat Domains is probably one of the best funded and most professionally run. Of particular note, they offer an Escrow service which can be used by anyone... and the seller picks up the cost. Also, they offer appraisals for a fee. As of Q1, 2001 the fee was $75.00 per domain appraisal, with 'specials' offered from time to time. All in all, a good place to visit if you want to get a feel for the state of the domain name market. To access some of the services, you will need to create (register) an account (no charge). One thing to be aware of. It is expensive to list a domain name for sale here. The 'high profile' names shown are there because that positioning has been purchased in one form or another. This means that you may not be looking at the best names... simply because the owners ("Registrants") cannot afford to pay the monthly fees. You will have to drill down pretty deep to locate most of the other inventory.
AFTERnic.com
Another well run site that appears to have plenty of financial backing. A bit 'busy' when you first arrive, but you'll figure it all out before too long. This site has an 'auction' section, where the Market can have their say on a day by day basis about what they feel a domain is worth.
a-1domainsales.com
Not quite as professionally done as the two above... but a good inventory of names, nonetheless. In a number of cases, we thought the asking prices we're way out of range for almost anyone. Maybe they were priced before the "dot.com" bubble burst in March of 2000 :-)~ Of course, you can always make an offer
domains.com
Not too professional looking... but a nice search capability. Be prepared to wait when searching - their inventory is large but the prices seem to make more sense. In looking at some of the inventory, we were struck by the realization that the value of the domain (domain.com) which hosts this site is probably worth more than most of their listings. Oh well...
privatedomains.com
A bit more professional looking than the previous 2... but they need to have their copy (re)written by someone with a good grasp of English grammar. It reads like it was written by a 5th year English student from another country. Don't let that put you off, though. The site appears to be complete and they have quite a bit of inventory - though overpriced, in our opinion. Even a section with domains for under $1,000.00. When we got there, they were all listed at $50,000.00 but the heading said "Unique Names for less than $1,000". We'll leave that up to you to figure out.
32d.com
Another good looking website. Search capability - all the goodies. Also, they had an informative page about evaluating a domain name. You can get there by hitting the Domain Selection Help link (or just click this) on the right side of their Home page. We found the domain listings a bit frustrating to locate. You HAVE to go through a search function - and can only view a master listing starting with a specific letter (all a, all b, all c, etc.). No prices were listed (that we could find, anyway). Then, when the list appears, you click on one of the names and it takes you to an "Offer" form. Even though we like to look at prices, this model may make the most sense. Watch the status bar at the bottom of the screen for a horizontally scrolling list of domains and their asking prices.
